Canada launches free Cybersecurity Training for immigrants with job placement

Canada is opening doors for immigrants through a new cybersecurity training program that combines technical education with job placement opportunities in Calgary.

The government-funded initiative is tailored to newcomers and offers a direct pathway into the cybersecurity workforce, one of the country’s fastest-growing tech sectors in the country.

Launched by the Alberta Ministry of Jobs, Economy and Trade, in collaboration with ReTrain Canada and Manpower Canada, the program delivers cybersecurity training with industry-recognised micro-credentials and entry into 16 in-demand roles.

Cybersecurity Training designed for immigrants

The 12-week cybersecurity training program kicks off in March and will run Monday to Friday, from 9 AM to 4 PM. It’s completely free for participants, and includes hands-on learning, work-integrated experience, and job placement support.

The initiative, called “Cybersecurity for Immigrants,” is designed to help newcomers gain foundational and advanced cybersecurity skills while also connecting them directly with Canadian employers.

Participants will engage in instructor-led sessions, real-world simulations, and technical labs. At the end of the program, they’ll have access to up to four weeks of potential work experience through a project or partner company.
