One of Nollywood’s brightest acts, the award-winning Omowunmi Dada, recounts how she glides across our screens with effortless grace while she was quietly enduring physical agony.
She peeled back the curtain on her secret struggle with chronic leg pain in a moving video reel documenting her hospital to recovery journey.
The footage includes a collage of X-rays, hospital visits, and physiotherapy sessions that showed the stark contrast between her public poise and private pain.
“Sometimes, we carry our pain so quietly that the world celebrates us without realising the weight we bear behind the scenes,” Dada wrote alongside the video. “I had been dealing with leg pain for so long, yet I continued to show up, walk through sets, and smile through moments—but deep down, I was weathering a storm.”

Her decision to undergo surgery came after exhausting other options, a choice she described as both terrifying and humbling. “The thought of losing control over the simple things we often take for granted—walking, using the bathroom, moving freely—was humbling,” she shared. “But God… He held me. I’m still healing, but my healing is beautiful.”
The actress expressed profound gratitude for her support system – medical professionals she called “miracles in scrubs,” friends who filled her hospital room with teddy bears and home-cooked meals, and family whose strength became her anchor.
But perhaps most powerful was her message to others fighting silent battles: “I see you. I feel you. I pray healing finds you. Not everything you see online reveals the whole story. Be kind. Be gentle. Life unfolds behind the scenes.”
