Nollywood actress and activist Iyabo Ojo says her fight for justice in the mysterious death of singer Mohbad has come at a terrifying personal cost, including death threats against her and her children.
Ojo made the revelation on Instagram after a disturbing video surfaced showing a man identified as Saheed Jamiu cursing her out and accusing her of shielding Omowunmi, Mohbad’s partner, from police investigations.
“Over the years, certain individuals have consistently called for my death, the destruction of my source of livelihood, and have incited public violence against me and my children, all without any intervention from the authorities,” the 47-year-old actress wrote.
She explained that her emotional response to Mohbad’s death last year was based on the distressing footage circulating at the time. However, she insists she never publicly accused anyone of murder.
“My concern has always been for justice. I’ve never blamed anyone directly. All I asked for was a proper investigation,” she clarified.

The case so far
Mohbad (Ilerioluwa Aloba), a fast-rising Afrobeats star, passed away on September 12, 2023, under suspicious circumstances. He was buried the next day, sparking nationwide protests, public outcry, and eventually, an exhumation and autopsy were carried out.
The investigation has dragged on with little closure, but new developments have emerged since social media activist, VeryDarkMan, took it upon himself to dig deeper into the case. He has been interviewing several persons of interest, who have revealed fresh details that led to the singer’s death. However, the case isn’t conclusive, while Mohbad’s corpse remains in the morgue.
Iyabo Ojo has remained one of the most vocal public figures demanding answers, often using her platform to pressure the authorities for accountability.

“They’ve sent coffins with my name”
But her outspoken stance hasn’t gone unpunished. Ojo says she’s now the target of ongoing threats, including videos promising violence, and images of coffins bearing her name.
“My family and business enterprise remain endangered,” she said.
“But I refuse to be silenced. I have formally petitioned the police and will cooperate fully if invited.”
Despite the mounting pressure, the actress says she’s drawing strength from her faith and the support of those who believe in justice and truth.
